Join Saratoga Springs author Terry Hynes at the Adirondack Country Store in Northville for a Climbing to New Heights book signing. Saturday, July 11, 12-3 PM. Copies available for purchase and signing. Stop in to chat about Adirondack hiking and local stories! When Terry Hynes was 11, a model of a fire tower at a state fair changed his life forever. He didn?t know it yet, but this would later inspire him to complete the Adirondack Fire Tower Challenge. In Climbing to New Heights, Hynes masterfully details each of his ascents to 23 summits in the Adirondack and Catskills Mountains. Along the way, he discovers both the beauty of nature and how quickly it can be destroyed by time, vandalism, or lack of funds for preservation. Each chapter is filled with vivid imagery of the scenic trails peppered with unique state history and witty commentary by Hynes. This memoir is both an inspiring tale of perseverance and a plea to preserve these historic structures. By the end, the reader will feel like they hiked each mountain alongside the author.
